Here is a list and description of 12 private campgrounds from which one can enjoy the Pilgrim region, southeastern Mass (less than a hour from Boston).  This area abounds with attractions such as: Boston, Foxboro Stadium, home of the New England Pats; Great Woods Ctr for the Performing arts (Mansfield); Battleship Cove (Fall River); New Bedford Whaling Museum; South Shore Music Circus (Cohasset), Plymouth Rock and Plimoth Plantation where interpreter bring the Pilgrim experience to life; Cranberry World Visitors Ctr. (Middleboro); and the Raynham Dog Track. Enjoy Sept's Cranberry Festival (S. Carver), Plymouth Lobster Festival (Aug), and King Richard's Faire in Sept (Carver).
